Those employees need a license to be creative. The first requirement of this licence is Psychological Safety, designing an environment where employees feel safe to voice their ideas, without feeling of their self-confidence and feeling of belonging being threatened.
Professor Edmondson defines psychological safety as:
“A belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns and mistakes and that the team is safe for interpersonal risk taking”
But how do we nurture Psychological Safety for employees? And how crucial is the role of a Line Manager in facilitating this emotional safety?
Xander Talent recently collaborated with Mental Health Coach, Kathy Coleman, and Group Talent and Development Director, Debra Wiseglass, to discuss how to create psychological safety in the workplace
At Xander Talent we balance profit with purpose. We support businesses to build diverse teams that meet their capability needs across priority skills areas in Change, Data, Digital and Risk. We recruit our Associates from a diverse network of talent pools and train them in our bespoke Xander Academy, whilst equipping them with a social purpose. They are then placed within your organisation for up to 2 years, during which our dedicated embedding supports them during their journey.
